2014 SUMMER PROGRAM
July 25-August 22, 2014
Cherry Grove, NY
FIAR is pleased to announce that the selection of 2014 residents will be made by the following distinguished guest jurors:
Bill Arning, Director, The Contemporary Arts Museum Houston
Amy Sillman, artist and Co-chair of Painting at Milton Avery Graduate School of the Arts at Bard College, Annandale-on-Hudson, NY, and
Lanka Tattersall, Curatorial Assistant, Department of Painting and Sculpture, The Museum of Modern Art, New York
In addition to our five residents, FIAR is host to many exciting visitors. Leading figures in contemporary art serve as mentors, providing residents with one-on-one studio visits and support. These visiting artists also share their experiences with the community through public lectures and discussions at the Cherry Grove Community House through a special partnership with the Arts Project of Cherry Grove. In this way, FIAR hopes to bring both new creative perspectives and prestigious art professionals together in this extraordinary location to foster the creation — and preservation — of LGBTQ art-making in contemporary art.
2014 VISITING ARTISTS
In addition to these events, as part of our free public programming, FIAR is also pleased to partner with Dirty Looks, a roaming platform for queer experimental film and video, to offer public screenings of queer film at the Cherry Grove Community House.
